Employee Requirements + Resources

Our teachers are trained in five basic areas, over a two week period, prior to working in a classroom. These five areas are: policy, philosophy, language, environment, and development. We work to maintain consistency and continuity in care by providing staff with adequate living wages, health benefits, appropriate preparation, support in the classroom and continuing education.

All of our staff is required to have 15 continuing education hours per school year. We provide 4 teacher trainings per year which fulfill these requirements. If you miss a teacher training, it will be up to you to make up these hours by:

1) attending another class (ask your specialist or director for suggestions).
2) participating in one of the self studies available to you on the Metro Child Care Website.

All of our staff MUST be enrolled in the Oregon State Criminal History Registry PRIOR to working with children.

The following requirements must be met within your first 90 days of employment:

• Child/Infant CPR and First Aid training
• Oregon Food Handlers Card
• Child Abuse and Neglect Training
